Duh…

…I see myself falling in my old scheme again… but I have excuseeees.
The past days I was struggling with studying for my upcoming Intro to Research exam.
Our lovely school library decided to close due to moving, right now when people start having exams…
They said one could pick up books that were ordered from other schools, though.
So I did that, received an email on Friday that I could pick it up, went all the way to school just to hear: “Oh, this book actually comes from Ikaalinen. That’s not a different school, just a different campus. You can get the book on Monday.” AYFKM? I don’t need it anymore on Monday, the exam IS on Monday.
So I will pick up the book tomorrow, have it lying around for a while and then return it, cause if I don’t pick it up I will have to pay a fee, cause they ordered it there for me. -.-”
Anyways, I got the book from Aurelie. I HAAAATE reading books for exams. It is impossible. I read two pages and forget what was written on the first of them. :(
So, yeah, very much looking forward to that exam tomorrow.

Today I went voting.
For the first time in my life ever.
In Finland.
Funny, somehow.
I had thousands of discussions with people about how I can dare to not vote in Germany.
The answer is simple:
I have no idea about politics in Germany.
and
Frankly, I don’t live there at the moment, so what do I care about what changes or not?
And before I vote for someone, just to have voted, without knowing what I am doing, I just don’t do it at all.
But probably would not vote in the “big” elections in Finland either, but luckily I am not allowed to anyways.
Only the municipal elections, once I lived here for one year.

Also, I carved a pumpkin.
I don’t remember when was the last time I did that, but it is at least 11 or 12 years ago, I would say.

Ugh, that’s it.
Already too much written considering how unmotivated I am.
Wish me luck for that stupid exam. -.-

Movies and new addictions…

Sooo… today I watched a movie and I just thought I could use this way to highly recommend it to everyone out there.
It’s a German movie by Marco Kreuzpaintner (one of my favourite German directors) and it’s called “Die Wolke” (eng. The Cloud).
The movie is about a breakdown in a nuclear power station and its results for the people living around the area.
It was definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. Incredible touching, breathtaking, sad… and it makes you wonder if nuclear energy is really necessary… because, even though it is “only” a movie – it could happen. Every day.
Yeah… then… for those who didn’t know. Lazy ass me, who doesn’t even manage to update her blog in time got herself a 1-year contract at the new gym across the street.
I got it on Wednesday and was there already 4 times. I am afraid it is still just the first enthusiasm, but on the other hand its different from every sports trial I had so far. All the “I’ll go jogging.” or “I’ll go to Mikontalo gym.” always ended up in me having to force myself and after 4 times I stopped.
But the gym is awesome… it’s big, modern, new, lots of different things to do there, … I am really looking forward to go there. Even when going to bed in the evening it’s like “Yay, I can go to the gym tomorrow!”
I even was there yesterday after drinking way too much the night before.

I just hope it will soon pay off not only in fun but also in results. Then I’d be even more happy. :)

Oh and another new start… Japanese…
After my holiday there (I aaactually wanted to write about that… tütütütü… maybe some other time… tütü…) I am very motivated to learn it and the course in TAMK seems surprisingly good. The language is a lot easier than Chinese, what I tried and failed last year… :D
After 2 lessons (3rd coming tomorrow) I know incredible 15 hiragana (who knows just a bit bout the content of Japanese sign language know that this is…NOTHING), some greetings and few basic sentences. But that is more after half a year of Chinese. :D

To end with that…
Sayonara!

Winter. Big time.

What happens if the winter recognizes it has been late for over one month already? Exactly, it hurries up as much as it can to get all the stuff done that it missed in the past weeks.
We had some poor single snowflakes in the end of last week already, but Monday it really started. Yesterday the world looked already quite white and after it was sunny here the whole morning today, now it started again. And it doesn’t stop. There’s so much snow at one time falling down, that you can barely see through it. This is gonna be so much fun, cause even though Finns are (of course) a million times better in dealing with it than for example Germans, it will still cause a slight chaos including delayed busses in the first days.

But at least it is not that slippery anymore.
It was earlier today, so I decided to buy new winter boots – in which I can walk without falling. I found quite nice, warm and water-proof ones for a reasonable price. The problem occurred when I went to K-Market with them and the alarm of the scanners went off. Great. :D Apparently there is some metal thing inside them, unremovable, which causes this.
The cashier and shop detective tried together to get it out, but they didn’t. :D Well, at least they deactivated it at the cashier, but I am not sure if this problem is solved for good now. It’s fun when everyone stares at you as if you are a criminal. Except the cashier and shop detective, because they seemed to know the problem already and apologized many times that I had to wait and everything. :D Anyways, there was no problem at Lidl, so I might just go there for the rest of the winter. X’D

Yesterday there was the Finnish Independence Day, it’s 94th birthday to be more exact. And to quote my classmate Janne: “She looks good for her age.” XD True.
I went to see the speech at the city hall, where they also played the national anthem and some other national songs and finished with a great firework.

I still think it’s a bit sad that Germany has problems in showing national pride due to its past, because everyone would call Germans Nazis if they did something like that.
I think it’s nice to show a bit of “love” to your father’s land as long as it is not too much. And I kinda felt like a part of the Finnish people, even though I am not Finnish and all “true Finns” would kill me for even thinking this. ;D

But now I will go back to my assignment. I managed already quite a lot of the stuff actually, even tho the deadline is next week. I’m very advanced. This is so not me. But I just really need to get it out of my head.

Yay-day!

Yeah, I kinda liked this day, even though I felt physically and mentally even worse than in the past few days…
But still I went to school this morning, English, senseless as always.
As a matter of fact it was the first time in I don’t know how many weeks, that I have been on all 4 mornings that I have school actually IN school at 8.30! 4 daysof getting up at 7. In a row. That’s a record. For sure!
But it is over now…
Yesterday our Project Management course ended. On Wednesday was already the last Marketing class and on Tuesday last Communication Skills. Meaning: from now on I have only Friday mornings school – for the next 3 weeks that there are.
Did I by the way mention I might take a Japanese course next semester? Maybe. Maybe I redecide after I have been there. ;PPP
Anyways, 6-day weekends from now.
And in 18 days I am already leaving to Japan. Insane.

Today I checked out Mikontalo’s sauna for the first time. We planned a get together with some girls, in the end there were 3 showing up, but Karolina had to leave earlier and Saija came a bit later, so Anniina and me were the only one’s in the sauna. But it is actually really good and reaaally warm for an electric sauna. I was impressed and I am sure I will book more shifts from now on. So easy if you just have to go there and it’s ready heated. ;D
Also otherwise it was very nice, we talked a lot and I somehow really feel better now. :) It might change soon, but who cares. It’s the moment that counts. :D

Now finally weekend and sleeping in. After 4 days of early wake up I actually for the first time really realize what a luxury that is. :D

Sleep well everyone!

Motivation!

I don’t exactly know where it is coming from, but it is here. :D
Or I’m just SO damn bored, that being unmotivated would make me even more bored…

Actually the day seemed to be a horrible one in the morning, as I once again didn’t manage to sleep more than 2 hours. x.x
Instead of normal school we had a company visit at IKEA.
We were worried about it, as they were apparently not too happy to have us over, but it turned out to be different. The two ladies who had the presentation were really nice and open and we even got free candy and buttons. :D
Luckily the afternoon class with Pirkko was cancelled, so of course – as we were already there – we used the time for some shopping.
I was walking around with Maja and later we met Anniina and Aurelie, too.
And it went as it always does in IKEA: you don’t need anything, but you will end up buying something. :D
I bought some deco stuff, awesome apple-cinnamon candles, two glass bowls and two little thingies which I thought are perfect for putting soy sauce in when having sushi or something. I was actually missing something like that.
And I bought some glasses with stars on them. I don’t know if they are supposed to be candle glasses or drink glasses, but I figured you can use them for both. :D
Here is a picture of my treasures:

After the shopping we had food at the IKEA restaurant: meatbaaaaalls. *.*

Back at home I was still motivated, so I did the stuff I had left to do for our Cross-cultural communication groupwork.

Then I figured that this motivation would probably not last forever and as I had planned on making an Advent wreath, like we used to have it when I was a child, I decided I could do that. Of course it is a bit early, but who knows if I would find motivation next year.
I found candles already some days ago at Lidl and now I bought some more deco and went to pick some fir branches.
I was attacked by several squirrels, but I survived. :D
Tiimari didn’t have wooden rings as we used for the basis of the wreath, so I improvised one from a 24 lonkero box. :D
I still remembered how to tie the wreath but it was still a bit more difficult, as the wire sucked and the Finnish twigs seem to be a lot spikier than the German ones. Ouch.
My next problem was how to fix the candles ON it, without the risk of them falling down. Daniela gave me the idea of using nails and it worked quite well.
Here the result:

Then I started to redecorate my shelf and my desk with the stuff I bought at IKEA.
The alcohol bottles which were on top of the shelf are a bit better hidden now and the top used for decoration.

And tadaaaa…

aaand…

Looks a lot better now. At least in my opinion.

So. Now it is 7.30 and I am still bored. And motivated…
So up next: English homework. Yes. English homework. Me.
It was quite easy. =P (Surprise, surprise.)

8.30. Still bored.
I wanted to clean the flat tomorrow as I have a laundry shift then and could wash my bed sheets also.
But I decided to clean the rest of the flat already today and leave only the bed for tomorrow.

I’m scary, am I not? xD

But yeah, I feel very proud of myself and that gets me in a better mood right away, too. :D

Haaaah. Still bored and motivated.
Maybe I’ll play some Facebook games. xD

Cheers.

Morning meow…

Dear readers,

here used to be a blog entry.
wordpress decided to delete it.
Isn’t this a nice thing to do?
I am gonna kick their fucking asses!!

Russia and more…

So, now I finally make it. Time seems to fly when it comes to blog posts, but not in every other sense. That’s quite weird. I don’t like it.
Anyways, I have overcome my autumn depression, I guess. No, it wasn’t an autumn depression… it’s just… there’s a lot of stuff  going on in my mind at the moment and I really don’t know where to put it, how to handle it and who I can talk to about it. So sometimes it needs just little things and everything gets too much. That happened in the last 2 days. But now there’s again so much coming up, that I probably won’t have time for it, so all stupid worries and fears are put to exile to a very small corner of my mind. Maybe I’ll give them some vodka and they can have fun on their own.

I came back from St. Petersburg on Monday and I survived “the Russia” once more. And this time even better than before. :D I remember everything and I wasn’t really wasted even once. Proud of myself. ;D
At first I was kinda sad, because I was the only tutor going and I didn’t know many of the exchange students at that point. But still it turned out to be a blast. I made lots of new friends and we really had a great time, even though it was really different from last time.
I was disappointed by the Russian dinner this time, but then there was the canal cruise instead and it was just super awesome. :)
Also the limousine tour was great again.

On Tuesday after school I went for some 2nd hand shopping with Alisa, mostly for her birthday and Halloween party, because we needed costumes.
Oh yeah. Very important at this point: I do know that Halloween was already on the 31st of October, I am not stupid, even though lots of people seem to think that.
Yes, I get bitchy about it.
Same shit last year, when we had our Halloween party a day before, because in Finland there happens to be a normal workday on the 1st, so 31st is a bad day for having parties. “But it isn’t Halloween yet!”
Now the same the other way around. Are you really thinking I am / we are stupid, or do you just need to annoy me?
Do me a favor and give me a break!
Thank you.
Back to topic…
I planned on being a vampire, even though after Twilight its just super embarrassing and cliché.
But while shopping with Alisa I got another idea. Still vampire, but without being super cliché “I dress gothic black, draw myself evil panda eyes and put blood all over my mouth”…. no…
Sarah from Dance of the Vampires it’s gonna be.
Too be more exact, Sarah after she was bitten an turned into a vampire. In case the teeth don’t stay where they are supposed to be only bitten and not yet turned. XDD

Today we had a company visit with the school which turned out to be a lot more interesting and informative than our lectures normally are. xD
After that we went for some coffee with Olli, Anniina, Aurelie, Jaana and Jari.
Aaaaaand in the evening there was again the improv show of JadaJada and it was again superfunny… I am a fan. xD

So yeah, actually it’s Thursday so it’s supposed to be weekend. But someone really hates us, so they decided to let us have English on Friday mornings this term. Seriously?
I mean, one good thing about it: there might be some blog posts coming up every Friday morning from now on. xDDD
Haaah, yeah… xD

Ohhhh, by the way, one very important thing! ihmepensas wrote this comment on my Dance of the Vampires review, in case you didn’t see, and added a link for more pictures!!! There you can also have a look at the very differen Koukol and the awesome dresses of the vampire ensemble – check it out: HERE!

Last but not least, I want to share a picture I took when we arrived with the boat to Helsinki on Monday morning. I am sure the beauty of this moment wasn’t possible to capture in a picture, but I tried my best and I was suprised about my camera. No after-photoshopping needed…

For the Germans…

…and all other non-Finns/not living in Finland/not studying in Finland.
Of course those who do are allowed to read it too, but it might be less interesting.
Because… it’s about the overalls again.

For those who didn’t read my blogentry about them and want to know what it is about, check it here.

On Thursday is Hämeenkadun Appro, as I already mentioned somewhen earlier, so I took some time today to polish op my overalls, sew some patches and so on.
And I thought… when I am always talking about my overalls, also to those who never really get to see them, it would be kind of a good idea to introduce them more closely.
No, they don’t have a name. Yet.
Actually it’s a good idea.
Any suggestions?? xD

Anyways… I took some pictures today, so they are very up to date…

To start with… THE FRONT!

1) It’s random glow sticks I hijacked from Markus. Or he rather gave them to me. Actually there is no sense in keeping them there, but this is just the point of overalls… so they stay. :D

2) Manchester United lanyard I got when I visited the Old Trafford stadium. It’s a must.

3) It’s Pasi! (Uniklubi’s guitarplayer) On a button.

4) Anti breast-cancer ribbon. Self explaining.

5) Finland.

6) Hämeenkadun Appro, Level 1. Approbatur. (5 drinks in 4 hours.) Level 2, Cum Laude (7 drinks in 4 hours) will follow on Thursday! =D

7) CLINT City Tour. The tour through Tampere that CLINT offers for exchange students provides patches for all exchange students and tutors attending. :D

8) Finland/Germany lanyard. Thank you Basti! :D

9) Red nose! We random got it for free at a shop on Vappu and I couldn’t be bothered to get rid of it. :D

10) “Never run for a bus! Especially not when it is driving upwards in a 90° angle!” – Spongebob. :D

11) Tuutori. It’s finnish for tutor. Obviously. And I am one. Plus I really like it. ;D It’s so cute with the traffic-sign style.

12) Union Jack. Because I lost my heart in Manchester.

13) Haalaribileet. One of the many parties dedicated to the overalls. :D

14) Tursajaiset. The festival for the 1st year students. Isn’t the octopus just über-cute?

15) The legpart I changed with Markus. :) Embroidered it with the Japanese version of his name (マルクス) and a heart lately. I’m so cute, am I not?

…lets go to the back now…

1) Tuhkalehto. It’s a band.

2) John Deere. Thank you, Markus. <3

3) jobstep.net. Some random website for students. Why do I have it? I don’t know. It was for free. o.O

4) Anni. It’s my name.

5) Bubirundi, one club in our school that organizes awesome parteeeys.

6) Lithuania. I’ve been there.

Hah… so now I got explained some of the things.
I looove my overalls. :D

Yeah, so that’s more or less the only thing I managed to get done today. Except going to school.
We builded bridges with having nothing else than paper and scissors. No glue or anything. And it had to be strong enough to hold a toy car and one of your group had to be able to fit through under it. xD
We so managed. :D With more luck than anything else… but still :D
The class was Communication Skills. Quite obvious, isnt it? Welcome to the tourism programme. xD

Oh and today was the fourth day of my trial of dietary change, which includes to eat more regularily and smaller amounts at a time, instead of sometimes way too much and sometimes nothing at all like I did in the past months.
I mean it wasn’t anything bad, but I was kinda worried it might turn into something like a more serious eating disorder or whatever.
Additionally I try to eat more healthy, lots of fruits and salad and stuff like that. And no candies for a while at least.
I am succeeding quite well so far. =D

Sooo… enough boredom for today… :D

“What’s with the overalls?”

Sometimes it indeed is good to have a blog.
I got asked this questions now several times, mostly from German friends or exchange students, so I will explain it here, then I don’t need to tell it 500 times.

The overalls.
It a tradition in Finland that every study programme has those overalls in a specific colour with the name of school and programme written on the back.
I think it’s pretty awesome, as you can design the overalls with patches as shit as you want and the city looks just so awesomely colorful if there is an event where most students where them.
Of course most colors are the same for many study programmes, as there are just too many fields for everyone to have their own color.
We Tourism students are the lucky ones who happen to have a quite unique color. I dare to say that I guess we are the only students in Tampere who have this very bright limegreen. Or the other ones are hiding.
But it’s cool, cause in every party at least 6 people come and ask “Hey, what are you studying, you have such great colored overalls!” =D
Yes, we know we do.

So… to get a closer look…

…to my ass…

So this is how they are worn.
Normally. So you actually don’t wear it like a real overall, but tie the sleeves around your hips.
IMO it’s perfect when you can read school and programme name perfectly. Which is quite tricky at points.

Our very green class on 1st of May (Vappu), the biggest student party day in Finland.

Markus and my overalls with exchanged leg parts. :)
Lots of couples/friends/siblings/etc. do that to show that they “belong” together.
It’s kinda cute I think.

Yeah, so that’s with the overalls.
I was wearing them quite often lately, because they are also a good sign for the 1st year and exchange students to recognize their tutors.
Buuut… most of the orientation stuff is done, I have a free weekend behind and tomorrow also for me school will start again. I am somehow looking forward. :D
Oh and then next week we are already going to visit Zsofi in Hungary for one week. :D It’s gonna be awesome. :)

GET THIS THING MOVIN’!

This is what Lousie would say and this is what I will say.
I’m kinda ashamed not having posted anything for so long, but I’ve been kinda busy with my practical training.
I’ve been working in Stuttgart in the Maritim Hotel for the past three months, for those who still don’t know.
It was awesome, a great experience and I met a bunch of great people, but it was also very stressful and brought me close to freakin’ out at points.
Anyways, I got back last Tuesday and since then I am rotating with my tutoring stuff.
New exchange students are here, they had to be picked up (by me with a VW Transporter – just to mention it again, I am still so proud xD), then they had the orientation and stuff and today also the new 1st year tourism students arrived and I have to take care of them.
I was spending more time at school, at TKL busses and my bf’s place than here in the past week… but yeah, it’s a lousy excuse. v.v
That’s why I never actually wanted a blog. Things to write about are happening, I am too lazy to write, then I wait, things are piling up and I want to write even less! Grah.

But I really try to change that and post sth at least every now and then… maybe it’d help if I wouldn’t always write 500 pages, if I decide to write. :D
So this is why I am keeping it short today, but at least it is a start! I wrote! Applause! Thanks.
This – and then the laundry waiting in the dryer. (I’m not managing to get that done, either.)

But yeah, when coming back to this page after like ages, I figured that there is this nice putapictureandwritesomeshit feature for the side bar.
So I got a very funny task for you:
Tell me key words that describe me, so I can put them there!! I already have a few, but I bet there are a lot more! :D

And yeah, I hope I manage to write again anytime soon. :P

-xxx, Anni
